Skiing: January is the best skiing month. The Mahasu Peak slopes have consistent snow cover and equipment rental is available on-site. Cost: Rs 300 to Rs 600 per session.

Tobogganing: Sled rides down the snow slope are a January favourite for families and couples. Cost: Rs 100 to Rs 200 per ride.

Yak and Horse Rides: Both available throughout January. The backdrop of fresh snow makes this a classic Kufri experience. Cost: Yak Rs 200 to 400, Horse Rs 400 to 800.

Snowball Fights and Snowman Building: The resort grounds and surrounding areas provide perfect fresh snow for this. Kufri Heritage Resort has open lawns for snow play.

Snow Kingdom: Kufri's indoor snow park stays open throughout January with artificial snow if natural snow is temporarily thin. Entry: Rs 500 to Rs 700.

Himalayan Nature Park: The zoo remains open in January. Snow leopards, Himalayan black bears, and pheasants are best spotted during winter months.

What to Pack for Kufri in January

Thermal base layers (top and bottom), 2 to 3 heavy sweaters or fleeces, a waterproof down jacket or parka, waterproof snow boots (non-negotiable in January), woolen gloves, a heavy woolen cap, a scarf, and lip balm. Carry sunglasses as snow glare is intense on sunny January days.
