Adventure Sports in Kufri 2026 | Skiing, Paragliding, Trekking and More

Kufri is not just a scenic hill station, it is one of Himachal Pradesh’s most action-packed adventure destinations. Sitting at 8,048 feet above sea level with sweeping Himalayan views, Kufri offers skiing, paragliding, trekking, horse riding, zorbing, and wildlife safaris all within a few square kilometres.

Adventure Sports Available in Kufri

1. Skiing and Tobogganing

The slopes around Mahasu Peak are Kufri’s most popular winter activity. From December to February, the snow-covered terrain draws beginners and intermediate skiers. Equipment rental (skis, boots, poles) is available at the slopes for Rs 300 to Rs 600 per session. Tobogganing down the slope is Rs 100 to Rs 200 per ride and is great fun for children.

2. Paragliding

Kufri offers tandem paragliding from the higher ridges with a professional pilot. Flights last 10 to 15 minutes and give a bird’s eye view of the Himalayan range. Cost: Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 per person. Best months: March to June and September to November.

3. Horse Riding and Yak Rides

Horse riding to Mahasu Peak is the most traditional Kufri activity. Local ponies carry visitors from the main Kufri point up to the peak and back in 30 to 45 minutes. Cost: Rs 400 to Rs 800 depending on the route. Yak rides at the top cost Rs 200 to Rs 400 and make for great photographs against the snow backdrop.

4. Trekking

The Mahasu Peak trek is a moderate 2 km trail with 300 m elevation gain. It takes 45 to 60 minutes one way. Views from the summit include Jakhu Hill, Shivalik ranges, and on clear days, the Kinnaur mountains. More experienced trekkers can continue on to Fagu (10 km) or attempt the Kufri to Chail forest trail (18 km, full day).

5. Zorbing

Inflatable zorbing balls are available at Kufri Fun World and near the main market area during the peak tourist season. Cost: Rs 300 to Rs 500 per ride. Available round the year at Kufri Fun World.

6. Kufri Fun World Rides

Kufri Fun World is an outdoor adventure park with go-karting, bumper cars, roller coasters, and zip-lining. Entry: Rs 300 to Rs 500 for adults. Children Rs 200 to Rs 300. The park is open year-round from 10 AM to 6 PM.

7. Wildlife Safari at Himalayan Nature Park

The Himalayan Nature Park (Kufri Zoo) is home to snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, barking deer, pheasants, and over 180 bird species. Entry: Rs 80 for adults, Rs 40 for children. A guided nature walk inside the 90-hectare park takes 2 to 3 hours.

Best Time for Adventure in Kufri

Winter (December to February): Best for skiing, tobogganing, snow activities, and yak rides. Snow is guaranteed from December 20 onwards in most years.

Summer (March to June): Best for paragliding, trekking, horse riding, and wildlife walks. Clear skies and pleasant temperatures (12 to 25 degrees C).

Monsoon (July to September): Some activities limited but wildlife park stays open. Avoid trekking during heavy rain. Paragliding stops in July and August.

Autumn (October to November): Excellent for trekking and horse riding. Clear skies, low crowds, and great views of snow-capped peaks.
